Are you afraid of the dentist? If so you are not alone. Many people are afraid of the dentist and unfortunately that makes many people avoid the dentist. The major outcome of this is that they do not receive the care they should get and end up spending much more money as well as much more time in the dental chair later on. Many of our older patients tell stories about dental visits in years past where there was no anesthetic given, the dentist did not seem to care about their comfort, or one of many other reasons they are now afraid of dental visits.

The holidays are here. It is a time when many children are dreaming of sugar plums and presents under the tree. Written in 1944 by Donald Gardner, the lyrics of the song “All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth” are about a child who would like to speak clearly and whistle but cannot due to missing teeth. He was a 2nd grade teacher that asked the students what they wanted for Christmas. He noticed that almost all of the children answered with a lisp due to at least one missing front tooth.

This makes it difficult to choose a dentist. For someone new to the area, someone who is looking to change dentists, or someone that does not have a dentist, the following is a few tips on how to properly choose a dentist and make sure you end up with one that you can build a great relationship with for years to come.
